About VSAT™
The
Vulnerability Self Assessment Tool (VSAT™) software was developed
to support water and wastewater utility vulnerability assessments using a
qualitative risk assessment methodology. VSAT™ software is
available, free of charge, for wastewater utilities (VSATwastewater™),
drinking water utilities (VSATwater™), and for utilities providing
both services (VSATwater/wastewater™).
The VSAT™ methodology and software provides a structured, cost-effective approach for utilities to assess their vulnerabilities and to establish a risk-based approach to taking desired actions. The software allows utilities to assess the vulnerability of the complete range of utility assets including People (utility staff), Physical Plant, Knowledge Base, Information Technology Platform, and Customers.
The methodology and software are flexible, customizable and
user-friendly. In addition to a library of prototypical assets, included
in the VSAT™ software application are threat and countermeasure
libraries. As users proceed through their assessments, VSAT™
automatically documents the analysis process each step of the way.
VSAT™ helps users identify critical assets and potential single points
of failure. The VSAT™ process culminates in a series of
risk-reduction-cost reports that present findings in clear and concise
ways.
Overall, our goal is continuity of service, and at the end of the day
VSAT™ provides solutions that enable utilities to mitigate risks of
service interruptions at least cost.
