Coming Soon ...
VSAT™ will be providing a series of downloadable upgrades and
enhancements to its software in the coming months. Below is a brief
preview of these initiatives.
- Update of VSAT™ Countermeasure Libraries
The first update of VSAT™’s countermeasures libraries for
both water and wastewater is currently underway, adding new technologies
and processes and firming up text describing existing countermeasures.
In the process of preparing material to add to VSAT™, there will
also be a series of countermeasure bulletins that will be distributed
via download to VSAT™ users. These countermeasure bulletins will
focus on such topics as perimeter protection, on-site vs. outsourced
alarm monitoring and assessment, alternative detection strategies and
equipment, aquatic and marine intrusion detection equipment, chlorine
alternatives, and many more.
- VSAT™ to Offer Code Support and Enhancements
Code support and enhancements will soon be provided to the
current VSAT™ software, including updated reports, increased data
manipulation speeds, sorting options, decision making enhancements, and
presentation graphics. Upgrades will be downloadable, like those
previously issued for the VSAT™ software.
Specific enhancements include:
- Improved Reports – Updates of existing reports and specific
new reports to VSAT™ will provide capabilities for an “ad hoc”
report generator making it possible for utilities to create reports in
their desired format, content and layout. Specific new standard reports
will also be added
- The “ad hoc” capability will be provided by the creation of a
“Reports Database” where all information will be exported to either an
Access Database or Excel File. Users then will be able to create their
own reports from this database using Access Queries or the Excel Report
Generator. This will also create new, standard VSAT™ reports such
as comparison of Cost/Risk Scenarios and Cases, new analysis reports for
internal review, and an HTML format so that utilities do not need to
have Microsoft Word installed on their computers to create any VSAT™
report.
- Improved Countermeasure Evaluation Tables – Currently the
countermeasure evaluation process within VSAT™ is qualitative and
based on professional judgment. Planned improvements to this will
provide utilities with a new method to evaluate the effectiveness of
both current and proposed counter-measures adding a new, quantitative
diagnostic to evaluate countermeasure effectiveness as an alternative to
VSAT™’s current qualitative approach.
- Other Code Enhancements – Other code enhancements will
include “dynamic sizing” of the graphics on VSAT™, development of
a third dimension on the risk management display to allow users to more
easily see their high risk areas, improved editing capability for the
baseline and improvement analysis so that when utilities tailor the
asset listings to match their facilities, they have a more robust data
set.
